The European Commission has adopted two so-called ecodesign regulations to improve the energy efficiency of household lamps and lighting products for offices, roads and industrial plants.

The European Commission has adopted two so-called ecodesign regulations to improve the energy efficiency of household lamps and lighting products for offices , roads and industrial plants. Consequently, then , a phased entry into force , which provides the end for the classic light bulb in several stages. First, not all lamps in the EU member countries from September 2009 sold more than 100 watts, do not meet the minimum energy efficiency class C - with a power loss of 95 percent does not create classic light bulb . This is followed by 75-watt (September 2010 ) and 60 -watt bulbs ( September 2011). In September 2012, then all the lamps in the trade must meet minimum energy efficiency class C , from September 2016 ( with exceptions for some halogen lamps ) Energy efficiency class B.


According to the EU Commission of the measures leading up to the 2020 energy savings of nearly 80 billion kilowatt hours , CO2 emissions would thereby reduced by 32 million tons annually .

Now the European Union wants to ban energy-saving lamps apparently. Reasons for this are manifold. One of these is that in the energy-saving lamps highly toxic substances are present. And without these toxins would be energy-saving lights work not at all - and is, therefore, remains the only alternative on the LED lighting market.
